Equipment required
- Lyophilised peptide vial (sealed, stored per manufacturer instructions)
- Sterile bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)
- 3 mL syringe + 25G drawing needle
- Alcohol prep swabs
- Sharps container
Step-by-step
- Prep the surface. Clean a flat work surface with alcohol. Wash hands.
- Allow the vial to reach room temperature if stored refrigerated (~15 min).
- Wipe both vial tops (peptide vial + BAC water vial) with alcohol swabs.
- Draw the diluent. Pull back the plunger on your syringe to the required volume of air, insert into the BAC water vial, inject the air, then invert and withdraw the diluent.
- Transfer slowly. Inject the diluent into the peptide vial by running it down the inside wall of the vial — do not jet directly onto the lyophilised powder.
- Swirl, don't shake. Rotate the vial gently until fully dissolved (usually <1 min).
- Store at 2–8 °C. Use within 14 days.
Common mistakes
- Shaking vigorously — denatures peptide structure. Always swirl.
- Using tap or distilled water — introduces bacteria. BAC water only.
- Reconstituting too concentrated — small dosing errors become large errors. Aim for 1–2.5 mg/mL for most peptides.
- Not labelling the vial — write date reconstituted + concentration on the vial.
